Happy New Year!

A blessed new year to one and all! May God richly bless and strengthen us all.

And, given the focus on the change in calendar years, I thought it an appropriate time to update our online calendar - everything should be in order on it for the month of January now. Let me know if anything needs adding, updating, or changing!

Preparing for the Annual Congregational Meeting

Some look forward to the annual Congregational Meeting with the same enthusiasm as they do filling out their income tax, and take any opportunity to not attend. This is a mistake. The annual Congregational Meeting is not just a time to pass the budget for the following year and to attend to the multitude of administrative details which need doing. It is also a time to meet as a family to set priorities and delegate certain members of the family to do work that needs doing—that is, to serve as members of the Parish Council. Attendance at the meeting shows our commitment to these brothers and sisters. That is, it is an aspect of loving support of the family.

In order to make the meeting itself flow smoothly and efficiently, all nominations to Parish Council and all requested additions to the agenda of the meeting are set in advance. Names and suggestions for the agenda should be given to Fr. Lawrence or any member of the Parish Council. Regarding this, the following dates should be noted:

Sunday Jan. 2 – nominations to Parish Council, requested additions to agenda received
Sunday Jan. 9 – nominations to Parish Council, requested additions to agenda received
Sunday Jan. 16 – last day that such nominations and requested additions can be received
Sunday Jan. 23 – agenda and list of nominated persons distributed
Sunday Jan. 30 – the annual Congregational Meeting

Of special note at this year’s meeting is the matter of expanding our building and facilities. This will take money and commitment, and input is required regarding how extensive our renovations and expansion should be.

What is required of you?

  1. Pray for God’s will to be done at the meeting.
  2. If you have been a member of the parish for two years, consider whether or not you are called to serve on Parish Council.
  3. Think of who should be nominated to Parish Council, and submit your suggestions to the present Council.
  4. Come to the meeting.

God bless you all. See you at the meeting.

All my love in the Lord,
Fr. Lawrence
